Got a HD camcorder finally

Hi all. Well, I guess it was time to retire my Panasonic GS200 for a HD camcorder. I don't use it too much but I will be doing a few videos to post on youtube. I took Steve's suggestion of a while back, ( hope it's still a pretty good choice ) its a Canon Vixia HF 800. Nothing special but I think good enough for things like youtube.

I posted one thing there and I may have chosen the wrong file type cause it wasn't as clear as I hoped. Anyway, I like to save the file to my hard drive and then upload it to youtube afterwards, rather than do it through the share feature in PE11. I think I chose 1080x1920 ... does that sound like a correct number? And 30 fps.

My question is ... what would the best file format I should choose to save to my hard drive for later uploads. I've been out of this for so long, none of these file formats were even popular when I used the dv-avi files. I understand next to nothing of the HD formats. So ... LOL, tell me like I'm a dummy ... cause I am! These videos will most likely range from 15 to 30 minutes, if that is a factor. I just want them to be a clear as possible.

For Vimeo files, which would be the same as YouTube, I save as: h.264, 1920x1080, Progressive, 29.97 fps, VBR 2 pass encoding, bit target 15Mbps, max 15Mbps

I save my video files in full rez from the camera for later editing. What I posted above is if you want to compress for uploads to YouTube or Vimeo.

Cheryl has got it. In Premiere Elements 11, go to Publish & Share/Computer and select the AVCHD output with the YouTube HD preset.

This is, of course, assuming that your Project Settings are matched to your video specs.
